Welcome to laos

A secluded and long-unknown country, Laos combines some of the best elements of Southeast Asia in a small space.

The land of a million elephants

In ancient times, Laos was poetically known as the "land of a million elephants." During the Vietnam War, cynical Western correspondents dubbed it the "land of a million irrelevant." Four decades after the war, Laos is becoming an increasingly notable destination for travelers, a country of worship thanks to its pure nature, its rich culture and the friendliness of its people. A place where the pulse relaxes, the smiles are genuine and the locals are genuinely curious about the visitors.

A comforting simplicity

Laos preserves a good part of its traditions, which in other neighboring countries have been disappearing due to the bulldozer and reality shows. The villages offer everyday life and simplicity, and even in Vientiane you will find a most surprising peaceful river life. In magical Luang Prabang, hundreds of red-robed monks roam the streets begging for alms. It is one of the most representative images of the region; in fact, it is all that many visitors see on their way through Laos, but the most intrepid travelers will discover a country that is not affected by mass tourism.

Dream landscapes

Away from the cities, it's easy to find little-traveled routes through fairytale landscapes: craggy limestone cliffs, brooding jungles and the meandering Mekong River. By making crossings on foot and staying in villages, the traveler can soak up these spectacular natural landscapes and discover the authentic life of the country. Laotians are very welcoming hosts and what better way to get to know their culture than by sharing their life?

For every taste

Laos deserves all the accolades it receives. Active travelers can lose themselves in caves and underground rivers, whitewater rapids, or zip lines in the jungle. Nature lovers, make excursions among unusual fauna through the most immaculate forests of Southeast Asia. Foodies, enjoy an unusual mix of flavors. Whatever their tastes, the traveler will find what they are looking for in Laos, one of the most authentic destinations in Asia.
